America 250 DeKalb is a community-wide initiative led by local organizations, residents, and partners throughout the City of DeKalb, Illinois. Together, we will mark America’s semiquincentennial with a full year of events, projects, stories, and celebrations that honor our past, reflect on our present, and imagine our shared future. From concerts and public art to educational programs and volunteer opportunities, 2026 will be a year to remember—and we invite everyone in DeKalb to take part.

In 2026, the United States marks 250 years of independence — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for communities to celebrate our shared heritage. The DeKalb community, has set an ambitious goal: to be a leader in Illinois for America’s Semiquincentennial commemoration through a celebration of patriotism and unity across political lines.
